An earthquake? Or was it just vertigo?

I’ve heard of pre-holiday stress and post holiday blues but pre-holiday blues? Have you ever looked forward to something so much that the fun is actually the “looking forward to” part. Then it happens and then it’s over. Yeah it’s kinda like that. Also have you ever looked forward to something you can smell and are so excited to eat only to realize it’s a smell coming from somewhere else and you were mislead the whole time. Yeah it’s kinda like that too. I’m not feeling very festive either. I think that’s just me every year around this time. Also, I’m inching closer to the THREE UH OH and it kinda sucks to be honest.

Like fire, I’m into English Psychadelia

Okay that didn’t really rhyme, what gives random surfers?

Recently I’ve been finding myself really digging music that could only properly fit into the category “English Psychadelia“. Am in the midst of finding out more.

In the meantime I have the following for my weekend music catch up:

  • The Horrors - Strange House (Primary Colours is the first album I’ve listened to them and in full and I loved it. This one is technically their first full length.)
  • The Birthday Party - Prayers on Fire/John Peel Session (Where have I been all these years to have not listened to them proper!?! Goes to show there’s just toooooooooo much out there to get grubby ears all nice lubed for)
  • A Place to Bury Strangers – A Place to Bury Strangers (I thank Last.FM and my paid subscription for this and their “You might like this” recommendation based on my Jesus and Mary Chain listening trend)
  • Fire Engines - Big Gold Dream 7″ & Fond (Josef K. related)
  • The Stevenson Ranch Davidians

I had an epic dream this morning. It’s almost on par with my “Lestat” dream a few years back. I immediately typed it out on notepad. It hardly makes any sense now but here goes:

I was caught up in some drug war and the hero in my dream remains anonymous (I want to say a tall, handsome figure much like Vampire Eric of True Blood heh heh). The drug dealers of which the king pin was Ice Cube, well they had won the ‘battle’. They killed some people and got their drugs and money back. Some random scenes I remember was witnessing a brutal shooting and then some… Also Thom Yorke was shot during the ‘war’. Well after our ‘defeat’ the drug dealers decided to treat us out for some drinks at a mamak stall somewhere. It was early in the morning – maybe 6 a.m. or something and the sun was sorta up. The ‘hero’ in my dream tells me there’s a 24 hour dancy party right by the mamak stall and the drug dealers agreed it was okay he take me there to cheer me up. So we head up some stairs in search of this dance party. I’m sorta hung over, maybe kinda drunk I’m not sure and I’m leaning against the ‘hero’ as he walks me up all these flights of stairs and through random hallways and passageways. I notice I’m getting really tired  and we were walking pretty fast, like we were running away from someone. It occurred to me then something was up…. finally we reach our destination – there was a helicopter waiting for us and a boat parked on a river for myself and the ‘hero’ to hop on board as THOM fucking YORKE is waiting there (with shades on I believe) to fly the helicopter that would drag our boat down the river – far far away. Oh and apparently the ‘hero’ had taken all the drugs and money with him from the drug lords… the whole murder and everything before was all part of the ‘master plan’..

It actually sounds like some bad Hollywood movie..heh.

The world is turning but my life is already upside down

As much as I hate my Aunt Flow fucking up my system with over-the-top “emotions” I sure do love how it makes me connect with myself, to place myself before anyone else and to realize it isn’t always best to ’settle’ cause it’s easy and you, wait I, deserve better! (more on this later! I have a book to summarize!)

Anyway, I’m thinking about getting a subscription to Last.FM ($3/month) – I’m all into “exploring” more music these days. Seems like I have a shitload piled up that I either haven’t listened to, listened to proper or at all. I like how based on your listening habits you can listen to other bands ‘alike’ etc… My 30 day trial was up last week though. I’m still messing about with it though. Another music related program I’ve been digging is Spotify. Unfortunately with the slow connection speed here I’m not always successful logging on. Also, apparently I have 14 days left before I would need to upgrade to a premiere membership. The thing is, Spotify is only available in certain countries and although my registration shows I am from one of the applicable countries, my IP shows something else. I spent a good chunk of my evening yesterday matching CD’s to the appropriate cases and ripping a handful on them onto my hard drive. I have a lot of SHITE… quality wise but most of the shite was given to me for free during my freeloading radio days.
