No thanks.

Monday, March 30th, 2009

I really really really really etc… dislike coloured contacts on Asians. It looks so tacky. Props to the first few Asians that dared and could afford them – but now it’s like every girl and their mother wears them. It looks cheap, fake and just flat out stupid. This is a prime example of how ‘the masses’ ruins things. I’ll be honest I use to want to wear coloured contacts but thank the lord I’m a late contact-lens wearer that by the time I started wearing contacts lens, coloured contacts were just NO. Bad idea. Cheap. Ew. Say NO to fake ladies. Embrace your natural eye colour. Brown is beautiful.

***you make Asians that were actually born with blue/green/grey/ etc… eyes look bad. Sorry.

Events that make things eventful

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I’ve had a rather eventful week so far. I got my house cleaned finally. Graham Coxon replied to my ‘tweet’ on twitter. I upgraded my broadband package so I can surf the internet faster. I finally got off my lazy ass and started putting some of my shit up for sale. I emailed Tony Fernandes with a proposal. I finally submitted my cover letter / resume and I’ve been pretty good with excercising as well! Now I’m indulging in some Dr. Oetkers frozen pizza and I think I can eat the WHOLE pie cause it’s THAT good.

Let me break it down a bit more…

On getting my house cleaned:

Who doesn’t love a clean house?

On Graham Coxon tweeting:
It’s probably not a big deal cause he’s cool like that. But me on the other hand, I’m kind of lame

coxontwitter

On upgrading my broadband package:
I decided to give P1 Wimax a shot seeing I had nothing to lose with my already slow Streamyx connection. It wasn’t any better honestly. Since i’m on a 15 day trial, I’ve decided i want to return the modem and just upgrade my Streamyx account.

On selling some of my stuff online:

One person’s junk is another person’s treasure. As is this case. I’ve managed to sell a set of blinds, clothes hanger, computer table, digital camera, pet cage carrier and a couple more things to sell like my computer, some curtain rods, a night stand. If everything sells I’ll make about RM 1780 – which goes to my “London in July” fund

On emailing Tony Fernandes:
He comes off as a pretty personable fella. He has his own blog, twitter and apparently he even answers his own email. I’m not going to reveal just yet the contents of my email but this post is all kind of inter-related ;-)

On submitting my cover letter / resume:
I’m not proactively looking for a new job but I am interested to see how I do in the job market. Who knows, the right offer may come along my way! That or an awesome compromise.

As for excercising regularly, it may not be much but I’ve been speed walking/running on the treadmill nearly every day while catching up on episodes of LOST, Desperate Housewives, Skins and Weeds.

Get me to Britain

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

I hardly ever enter competitions because I don’t think I have any luck in ‘lucky draw’ scenarios. Anyway, there is one competition I don’t mind entering cause I get to do some research work and not just sit there hoping they will pick my ‘number’. It’s the “AirAsia & Visit Britain present the Great British Tour“. Basically you have to choose 1 of 3 itinerarys and guesstimate how much they spend on their 5D visit to Britain on a “shoestring budge”. If you get the amount ’spot-on’ you may win yourself a 5D/4N trip there. I’m confused however because according to the Terms & Conditions, the “prize” is a 5D/4N Go Holiday package for two people to Holiday Villa London + return AirAsia X Flight tickets to London deparing from Kuala Lumpur, but there is a disclaimer right underneath that says “PLEASE NOTE that airport transfers to and from LCC Terminal, Kuala Lumpur International Airport and between Stansted Airport, London and the assigned hotel is not included in the prize“…. HUH WHAT?

Do they perhaps mean the “assigned hotel” is not part of the prize as in the winner(s) are not allowed to take it home or claim ownership over it? Anyway, I’m not too concerned about the lodging because I don’t mind roughing it out in a hostel. I just need to get there for the Blur reunion concert at Hyde Park July 3rd. It’d be a shame to put the tix to waste!

WTF

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

I’ve been meaning to write about this. Will possibly create a ‘category’ for my somewhat dormant ‘journalistic’ skills…..must kickstart “thinktivity” in hopes not to burn what little is left.

Last week (and how aptly on Friday, the 13th), it came to my attention that Greek “black metal” band ROTTING CHRIST is set to perform in Malaysia in May. The tentative place for absolute chaos is Stadium Melawati in SHAH ALAM. This is all sorts of WTF.

Let’s break it down in point form:

  • First of all, the band’s name is ROTTING CHRIST and for them to perform in a Muslim country (with already ridiculous laws about concerts) is an instant WTF #1. Perhaps they can escape the blatant blasphemy by using their ‘metal’ logo when filling out permit forms. From a dyslexic point of view – it looks like “Rolling Thrist”

  • WTF #2 is the TBC place of concert – in SHAH ALAM. The most conservative-predominately malay-muslim area in the Klang Valley. Ironically, it’s the Malay-muslim men that are the biggest fans for this genre of music.
  • WTF #3 - Malaysia has made headlines for their ridiculous conceptions of what is “black metal” is. Forget the music, if you’re wearing black and listen to rock you worship Satan. Here are a couple articles online you can refer to:

Some years back at a local hardcore show, some idiot reported it to be a black metal show with goat sacrificition (crap is that even a word? Sorry all this WTF is getting to me and now I can’t continue with the “WTF”’s.)

To be continued after lunch…. in the meantime, look/listen to the awesomeness that is ROTTING CHRIST:

it’s a nice day for a….

Weddings! Always the bridesmaid, never the bride! So Rosie and co. went and tried on some bridesmaid dresses the other day. Majority consensus says the colour theme is CLOVER, slightly below the knee length and dress options are:

f13277 and  f8122381334

Bridal and bridesmaid dresses will be from David’s Bridal presumably so I had a look through the site for dresses that fit the colour and length criteria. I thought this dress was alright:

f13408 It has a flow to it that doesn’t look as restricting as the first one. Also, it’s not a strapless cause I absolutely cannot wear strapless – esp. not with my doomed relationship with gravity! ACK.  Halter tops are also a no-no cause majority consensus said no :-/ Other choices for me would also include:

83168 and f12723

Now if I were tall, thin and toned, this wouldn’t be a problem. But you know, that is the problem, I’m not and this could either a) motivate me to excercise and diet like my life depended on it or b) a total blow to my self esteem. Crap.
